NEW NEW NEW – Upgrade to Golden Reboot – NEW NEW NEW
M33M 2014 Winter was the first presentation of the Golden Boot, given to the Best Bumper that didn’t win from the Traverse City Film Festival bumper contest. The TCFF is Michael Moore’s gift to the region, an amazing week long celebration of great movies from around the world. There’s also street parties, workshops, panel discussions, music, an affordable ($5/class) film school with award-winning filmmakers from around the world, an army of regional volunteers and crazy fun all around. As of last year, screening at the TCFF makes a short documentary Oscar eligible.
The TCFF and FIM Group sponsor a thematic bumper contest with significant cash prizes. Bumpers are short movies that go between the festival movies and are a great way for local movie makers to showcase their chops.
Because the TCFF is such a high profile event, the bumper contest is a significant inspiration and source for regional shorts. Local creatives showcase their best efforts with every bumper entry.
The Golden Boot is the Micro Movie Marathon’s non-sanctioned extension to the bumper contest. We know preparing a bumper is a big effort and your regional community of peers wants to see what you’ve done. Three to six entries win each year. The rest can be seen and their teams recognized here. A truly amazing bumper gets the Golden Boot, Hurray!
Golden Boot in bullets
1) Bumpers are possibly the most significant source of regional shorts, we want to see, recognize and learn from each other’s best efforts.
2) Having a second chance at a live audience might mean regional creatives are more likely to enter the bumper contest.
3) Hard work by aspirants to excellence is celebrated with a public screening that includes Major Awards, snacks and dudes in high heels.
