From the Traverse City Ticker 6/6/13 – PBS documentary Invisible Women, based on a book written by a local resident and business owner, has received an Emmy Award. Jane Fortune, author of Invisible Women: Forgotten Artists of Florence, also co-owns Bella Fortuna North in Lake Leelanau.
The book chronicles Fortune’s quest to locate, restore and find permanent homes for the great artwork done by Florence’s female artists after falling in love with the city while in college. Approximately 2,000 works have been found in various storage areas around the city. She is hosting the local premiere of the documentary at the restaurant on Mon., June 10, at 6 p.m..
