Working Our Way Toward Non-Profit

In additon to all the good times we’ve been having at the Brew we have also working on getting non-profit status for Michigan Movie Makers.  Tomorrow (4/11/13) I will be sitting down with Northsky Non-profit Network here in Traverse City to find out exactly what we need to do to get this non-profit off the ground.  I am also working on getting in contact with the West Michigan Film and Video Alliance for some additional advice.  I have completed the first draft of the Articles of Incorporation and the M3 Bylaws that I will be presenting to Northsky tomorrow for feedback and guidance.  I’m also looking for your help.  Below I have included links of the drafts of the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws.  Feel free to look them over and let me know what you think.  This is a work in progress so please let me know what needs to be fixed.  If you have any ideas for changes or additions to the bylaws let me know and explain a little bit about why you think they should be changed.  By creating this non-profit we are hoping to help bring in funding for creating things like an online talent bank for the local film and video industry.  Make sure to take a good look at our “purpose” to ensure it fits with all our ideas for growing our industry locally.
