Michigan Movie Makers are meeting this Wednesday the 24, just 7 days before Halloween!

We’ll be discussing the benefits of adopting a more structured organization, with membership and annual tiered membership fees – organization, professional, student, audience. This would move us beyond the “pass the hat” model of paying for our rent and refreshments, and perhaps enable us to hire a part time communications staffer. He/she would manage the blog and social media for starters, a job which Dan Kelly is currently doing – barely. This will free him up to do higher level gigs, like figure out how to stream the meetings, expand M3’s alliances, etc.
We are making a new call to build out future meetings. In 2012 we had some sweet workshops/presentations hosted by Jeff Morgan, Andrea Maio, Rebecca Glotfelty and Jeff Gibbs. 2013 is just around the corner, with an abundance of opportunities to wow each other. Dan Kelly will submit several scintillating concepts he’d be willing to organize and host that we can vote on, whoo! Please come prepared with at least one idea for a workshop/presentation that YOU would like to host.

November 2012 – People and the Olive screening WITH filmmakers Aaron Dennis live and Jacob Wheeler via skype who will relate their behind the camera adventures in making this doc and answer production related questions from their peers. Aaron has shifted his schedule to give us a huge boon – we can collectively glean valuable lessons from their experience and recognize what we as a movie making community have achieved.
