Two days into a wet and windy Fall, resplendent with towering Maxfield Parrish cloudscapes shot through with bold ochres and scarlets of the rising sun. After a brief summer vacation, Michigan Movie Makers meetings resume, every fourth Wednesday of the month, 6:30-8:30 pm at the Inside Out Gallery in Traverse City, Michigan.
Michigan Movie Makers was a year old in June. Through mostly monthly meetings, we’ve demonstrated that being aware of each other is good. Last spring we had a series of stellar presentations and Skype visits thanks to Jeff Morgan, Rebecca Glotfelty and Andrea Maio. I’d include Dan Kelly and Jeff Gibbs in there except their valiant attempt was something of a train wreck. The point is, we’re starting to do some interesting stuff.
This month we’ll have an informal sharing and brainstorming session – come ready for a round robin with brief updates on your projects in progress and recent successes/failures – epic or otherwise. Think about how we can energize / enhance our production community, how M3 could be better – more inspiring, magnetic and resource chocked.
For those of you who can’t make meetings consistently, this would be a great time to be seen and heard by your peers and perhaps have pix taken for the Meet your Makers page.
With western civilization on tenterhooks at the end of the Mayan calendar and/or election of the anti-christ and/or collapse of the dollar and/or melting of the polar ice caps, why bother building our collective Michigan Movie Maker community? You might as well ask – why did the band play on as the Titanic sank? Because they were artists! If we’ve only got a few months left to achieve greatness, by jiminy – let’s choose greatness.
