Michigan Movie Makers launches our latest industry building initiative, the Open Studio.
Open Studios are bonus events beyond our regular monthly meetings. Every other month, a regional movie studio opens it’s doors to M3’s peer community and the general public for an extended tour and collaborative experience showcasing the studio’s unique expertise, gear and focus.
The first M3 Open Studio is 45 Parallel Productions with Mark Eiden, Saturday December 14, 11 am – 3 pm.
Mark logged several years in LA as a professional stuntman. He is competent with weapons, vehicle chase/crash, physical work including falls/combat and pyrotechnics/pyro effects, which are his forte. Mark is ready to help M3’s core members with their FX needs.
Mark’s current project is Fork, an action thriller. The plan for the Open Studio is to execute FX scenes for Fork including 1) a bullet hit on a foreign agent/assassin with a body squib (small explosive charge and blood pack) and 2) disposal of another assassin via rocket launcher, (series of small and medium set charges topped with a gas pack for visuals). No live humans will be sacrificed, just a cardboard figure, see pix and script link below.
M3 Core members can assist, contact Mark. All M3 members can bring their own cameras to document for their libraries, longer focal length lenses are recommended as cameras will be back a safe distance from the action. The public can observe. Safety is Mark’s first priority.
C’mon people, does this sound like crazy fun or what?
This Open Studio is free but everyone must register to attend! Send email to with your name and phone number to openstudio@michiganmoviemakers.com.
