Our third Micro Movie Marathon. Yo Cannes, get out the way! Twenty seven entries for an hour plus of viewing fun. The major awards categories emphasized storytelling and the audience chose the winners via M3’s tried and true Australian Marble Balloting.
As usual, we brought the categories up before rolling the show and asked the audience to do a gently overlay while watching. After the screening, marbles of each color were distributed to everyone and cups representing each movie were placed on stage to receive the marbles.
Mostly Michigan (red marbles)
Mostly Michigan, elegantly reveals a place and/or feature unique to our fine state. Maybe there’s goosebumps, a sly grin or a swerve in your personal navigation because NOW… you know.
Andrea Claire Maio, Back to Your Senses Episode Excerpt, Zoe
(5 red, 3 green, 1 purple = 9)

Andrea’s Zoe got the most marbles
Secret Coherency ( purple-grayish marbles)
Apparent randomness and chaos yields a nugget of enlightenment. No mere mish mash of accidental composition, edgy color correction, dismal lighting and over the top acting. A shining through the mistakes and cliches seems to suck you in. Whether flabbergasted or nonplussed, you never once had time to remind yourself that there’s less than 3 minutes to go.
Ben Woody and friends Cinemaphobia
(4 purple = 4)

Testeriffic (greenish-blue marbles)
Maybe it’s just a little tiny experiment, a sketch, a romp in the sandbox, a hint at future triumph. You wish you could pledge $5 to that project’s Kickstarter, so long as the movie maker goes for it! More chances, bigger risks. They’ve got to slide more chips into the pot, bet their whole darn stack. Whatever that was… you want MORE.
Jim Kinney and Patrick Kelly, Wild Horses (3 green, 1 red, 1 purple = 5)
Other contenders (at least 4 marbles)
Mellissa Manzagol, Ice biking
(4 red = 4)

Motorcycle riding during winter in Michigan? Sure! Watch as this group of riders stud up their tires and travel to West Michigan’s frozen lakes. Perhaps you too will become Addicted to Ice!
Matte Kinne, Look at Your Town
( 4 red = 4)
www.matthewkinne.com
Look at Your Town was a rejected bumper from couple years back, so it didn’t qualify for the Golden Boot. There were no rejected bumpers entered for 2012, so the Golden Boot goes into the closet for the next 12 months.
Ben Woody, Crystal Lake ladder Jumpin’
(2 purple, 1 green, 1 red = 4)

This was an underwater GoPro test by Ben Woody, Dan Kelly and Lena Maude Wilson. Plans to launch a floating high dive platform at the blue line of Crystal Lake had yet to be realized, so the trio made do with a radical extreme sports improvisation.
TJ Kawano, and Dad (Joe Kawano), Foro and his Amazing Friends
(3 purple, 1 green = 4)
www.NewMediaDesignStudios.com
A super-hero webseries pilot, formed in the mind of a four-year old, and brought into reality with some help from his dad.
